Shun Hing Square
Shun Hing Square is a 69 story, 384 meter (1,260 foot) tall building in Shenzen, China. It is China's tallest steel building and fifth tallest building overall behind Shanghai World Financial Center (Shanghai), Nanjing Greenland Financial Center (Nanjing), Jin Mao Building (Shanghai) and CITIC Plaza (Guangzhou). It is also Shenzhen's tallest building. The spires on the building account for a lot of Shun Hing Square's height. Without the spires the building is just 325 meters (1,066 feet) tall. The building was constructed at a very fast pace of 4 floors per day days and was completed in 1996.
The design of Shun Hing Square was by the architectural firm of K.Y. Cheung Design Associates. Structural engineering was provided by Leslie E. Robertson & Associates, form work by VSL International, and the main contractor on the job was Kumagai Gumi. The core wall is made of reinforced concrete and the beams and columns of steel.
Shun Hing Square is like a city within a building and consists of three parts: the tower, a 35 story annex and a 5 story shopping mall. The tower is an office building, while the 35 story annex consists of apartments, a shopping arcade and a car park. On the 69th floor top story there is an observation deck called the Meridian View Centre.
